About Heartell Press
Heartell Press letterpress greeting cards are printed on 100% post-consumer recycled paper using an antique press with hand-carved wood blocks. The Indigo printed cards and prints are designed in the same way with hand-carved blocks and then reproduced on recycled paper using an HP Indigo (digital offset) press to create rich, matte images. Originally located in the Gowanus neighborhood of Brooklyn, New York, Heartell relocated in August 2016 to Fort Wayne, Indiana. You can see photos of the studio and the process of making Heartell cards here.
Heartell Press began in 2014 when artist and printmaker Rachel Kroh was caring for her mother during her treatment for cancer and had a hard time finding warm, sincere cards she wanted to send between visits. The collection has expanded to include cards for all kinds of milestones and everyday occasions. Helping people to be present to one another no matter what life brings is the purpose of every design. You can read more here about the story of how Heartell Press came to be.
