Gowanus Wunderkammer People's Archive Program

In February 2018 we started having monthly open archiving hours where everybody can bring in their Gowanus artifacts and we catalogue them, put them on display in our Wunderkammer for the month, and add them to our public online archive. The idea is to tell the story of Gowanus using the objects people have found in the neighborhood.

Learn more about the project on the Wunderkammer Website.

THE NEXT PUBLIC ARCHIVING HOURS ARE SATURDAY April 21, 10-6

The Gowanus Wunderkammer People's Archive Program is an extension of the Hall of Gowanus started by Proteus Gowanus, which is now supervised by the Gowanus Canal Conservancy. We have been displaying items for that collection since we opened Gowanus Souvenir Shop over two years ago. The shop has been a place for people to come and share their Gowanus stories and Gowanus finds and the archive program gives everybody a chance to share those finds with the public.
